“Wherever you turn, there is the face of God.”  ~The Quran

Every religion, at its core, is based on the idea that our world is a magical and mystical place, that each of us is on a spiritual journey, that all life is sacred, and that our entire Universe is a mystical creation.

Modern science, while often professing skepticism, is now coming around to provide further support for these ancient teachings. At the atomic level, each of us is composed of nothing but energy, timeless swirling patterns of light. Every atom in your body is billions of years old, clustering in molecules and cells held together by solar energy pouring down from the heavens.

Our very consciousness rides upon this energy, the fields of solar light pulsing within every living being. The very meaning of ‘spirit’ comes originally from the idea of an animating principle within living creatures. We now know that this life force truly exists, its local physical source the sun, its original source, a metaphysical mystery.

It’s usually hard for us to think this way. We are so caught up in our social and cultural identities, in our shared perceptions, desires and fears, that it’s difficult for us to see ourselves and others as primarily cosmic and spiritual beings. And yet, for centuries, that is what many of the world’s greatest prophets, sages, poets, writers, artists and visionaries have been trying to help us to do.

Here below is a summary of some of the “perennial” wisdom common to most of the world’s mystical schools and spiritual traditions. Mystical teachings are at the core of all the great religions. They provide an alternative to hate and fear, to our illusions of separateness, reminding us instead of the beauty, interdependence and sacredness of all life.

~*Core Ideas of the World’s Spiritual Traditions*~

UNITY, CARING AND CONNECTEDNESS~ The concept of universal brotherhood and sisterhood, unity and compassion. We are all related to one another, learning how to love and respect each other here on this planet, and work together harmoniously. Human life is like a school, where we are given the opportunity to practice forgiveness, charity, cooperation and compassion in this world.

“The kingdom of heaven is inside you and it is outside you. God’s kingdom is spread out upon the earth, and people do not see it.”         ~The Gospel of Thomas

DIVINITY IN THE WORLD~ The concept of divine purpose, guidance and grace. This is based on faith in an unseen mystery and spiritual wisdom in the universe. There is a spiritual presence that resides within us, and surrounds us, that can guide us when we believe in it, pray to it and learn to listen to it’s subtle messages to us. Not only that, but since this divine power resides in all beings, it often speaks to us from the mouths of others, and through events in our world.

“God is not some person outside ourselves or away from the Universe. He pervades everything… He abides in our hearts and is nearer to us than the nails on our fingers.” ~Mahatma Gandhi

THE UNIVERSAL SELF~ A central idea of mysticism is that there is only One Spiritual Being at the core of everything. This Universal Self is our fundamental identity. We are all ideas in the imagination of God, fingers on the hands of the Universe, or leaves on the Universal Tree of Life. At the center of each person is this same Divine Self.

“When we see God in each other we will be able to live in peace.” ~Mother Teresa

THE SOUL~ This universal spiritual Self is what most religious traditions call the soul. We are not the social roles society tells us we are. Our fundamental identity resides in our sacred and eternal core, whose origins lie in the spiritual realm and who’s experiences and feelings here on this earth are providing the most important learning experiences of our lives.

“The only true joy on earth is to escape from the prison of our own false self, and enter by love into union with the Life who dwells and sings within the essence of every creature and in the core of our own souls.” ~Thomas Merton

SPIRITUAL GROWTH~ As conscious souls we are constantly learning and growing, becoming more and more aware of our spiritual potential and our sacred relationship to everything else in the Universe. Life is a spiritual journey, where we learn to let go of our limited human ideas and beliefs, putting our faith in the wisdom of the mysterious creative power that gave birth to our Universe, and dances in our lives.

“Growth comes with an increasing awareness of and respect for Great Mystery in all people and things, with an awareness that this force of mystery is at work in all events. Growth comes through tolerance for the infinite variety of ways in which Great Spirit, the Infinite, may express itself in this Universe.” ~Ed McGaa (American Indian)

RECOGNIZING THE PURPOSE OF SACRIFICE AND PAIN~The journey of souls in this world is not easy. As long as we are motivated by anger, desire, pride or fear we will be challenged by life, and find ourselves experiencing struggles, anger, loss and pain. This is part of growth, a necessary condition for our spiritual development and learning. Fortunately, all pain and sacrifice are temporary.

“Pride comes before ruin, Arrogance before failure.” ~Jewish Proverb

“As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn’t leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I’d still be in prison.”  ~Nelson Mandela

ETERNAL SAFETY~ Since we are divine eternal beings there is nothing for us to fear, not even death. Everything that happens to us is a learning experience and even the most terrible things can be transformed into expressions of divine grace. Death is a natural part of this experience, and should not be feared.

“Know the Atman [Spirit], Unborn, undying, Never ceasing, Never beginning, Deathless, birthless, Unchanging forever, How can it die the death of the body?” ~Bhagavad Gita

0ca6303d0fcecd4709c73211f27dab9a

ALL LIFE IS SACRED~ While we may be eternal beings, to harm or kill another from malice, anger or indifference is to ignore their sacred nature and intrinsic value as sentient living creatures. Even when animals are killed we have the responsibility to do so compassionately and consciously, with respect for their lives and gratitude for their sacrifice. For the spirit that gave birth to us all lives in each and every one of us, each and every creation. All of us, no matter how foolish, insignificant or evil we may seem, are cosmic works of art, molded and inhabited by the divine light of God.

“You have heard that it was said, “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.” But I say to you, if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other also… Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you so that you may be children of your Father in heaven.”       ~Jesus

THE FUTILITY OF HATE~ Since we are all brothers and sisters to one another, all our hate, anger and fear are futile. Hate is based on the feeling that someone is trying to hurt you. But we are divine beings, who can never really be hurt in the end. Therefore, those we struggle with are actually teachers for us. They are challenging us to let go of our fears and illusions and open to love.

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Hatred ever kills, love never dies. Such is the vast difference between the two… The duty of a human being is to diminish hatred and to promote love.”    ~Mahatma Gandhi

THE REALITY OF LOVE~ Love is the way Spirit touches us, as souls here in this world. Love is the underlying reality and essence of the Universe. It is the force that holds all things together. Love is always there, although we may not always feel it or see it. Love takes care of everyone, forsakes no one. This is the great teaching common to all saints, prophets and spiritual traditions. We are all children of God, children of Love. No one should be ignored or pushed away.

“Love courses through everything. No, love is everything. How can you say, there is no love, when nothing but love exists? All that you see has appeared because of love. All shines from love, All pulses from love, All flows from love– No, once again, All is love!”         ~Fakhruddin ‘Iraqi

SHARING AND SERVICE~ Out of our understanding of the reality of love comes the motivation to commit ourselves to be of service to others. Selfishness arises out of a belief in the scarcity of resources, so that each is compelled to grab whatever one can to insure one’s survival. Cooperation, compassion and service are the actions that arise when we feel no lack, for they have the potential to fill our hearts with peace, gratitude and love.

“What actions are most excellent? To gladden the heart of a human being, to feed the hungry, to help the afflicted, to lighten the sorrow of the sorrowful, and to remove the wrongs of the injured.”   ~Mohammed

THE RECONCILIATION OF GOOD AND EVIL~ The idea that some people are all good and others are all bad is one of the illusions spun by fear-based human reasoning. It is the central idea that gives birth to all wars and violence between people. From the perspective of higher consciousness everything and everybody in the Universe is a part of God. All good things have some “bad” within them, and all bad things have some “good.” To recognize the negative qualities of ourselves and the goodness within our enemies allows us to understand how we are all similar to one another.

“In this world, hate never dispelled hate. Only love dispels hate. This is the law, ancient and inexhaustible.”  ~The Buddha

THE DANGER OF PASSING JUDGMENTS~ Related to this idea of good and evil is the human tendency to judge people, to call some things right and others wrong. While it is essential to make judgments about human behavior, this process of judging people frequently puts others out of our hearts, and since everyone is a part of God, it separates us from a part of our spiritual selves. We then start to create mental judgments, expectations and opinions of others (and ourselves) in our minds that are illusions, that do not recognize each soul’s fundamental spiritual wholeness, innocence, interconnectedness, beauty and potential.

Jesus said, “… If one is [whole], one will be filled with light, but if one is divided, one will be filled with darkness.” ~The Gospel of Thomas

THE IMPORTANCE OF ATONEMENT~ As individuals and as nations, human beings often do things that hurt others, that cause death, suffering or pain. The great spiritual traditions all emphasis the need for atonement, for recognizing how we have hurt others and taking action to change our ways. Guilt plays a role in helping us to recognize the negative effects of our behavior. Healing occurs as we take responsibility for our “sins” and seek reconciliation with those whom have hurt us, and whom we have harmed. Cycles of pain are ended as we forgive others and recognize our own mistakes.

“Not to mend one’s ways when one has erred is to err indeed.” ~Confucius

19d359bfb6d68a8f921149c22a54907e

DESIRE AND FEAR ARE THE ROOTS OF SUFFERING~ Our human pride, negative emotions and desires are like hooks that keep us trapped in the webs of material reality. The world’s great spiritual paths provide techniques for transcending our desires, releasing anger and conquering our fears. Until we are able to do so, we can never be truly free.

“There is no fire like greed, no crime like hatred, no sorrow like separation, no sickness like hunger of the heart, and no joy like the joy of freedom. Health, contentment and trust are your greatest possessions, and freedom your greatest joy. Look within, be still. Free from fear and attachment, know the sweet joy of living in the way.”     ~The Buddha

THE HEALING POWER OF FAITH AND PRAYER~ There is a healing power that faith and prayer seem to have. Whether it works through unseen spiritual forces, an attitude shift or a boost to the immune system we are becoming aware that what we think, hope and believe has the power to influence the way surrounding events unfold in our lives, and how stress and fear impact upon our bodies and minds. Spiritual faith cultivates a serenity and joy that transforms our hearts, peacefully impacting on the varied spheres of our lives.

“Do not look for rest in any pleasure, because you were not created for pleasure, you were created for JOY. And if you do not know the difference between pleasure and spiritual joy, you have not yet begun to live.”    ~Thomas Merton

THE CULTIVATION OF MORAL ETHICS, SELF-DISCIPLINE AND INTEGRITY~ As spiritual beings there are certain codes of behavior and self discipline that help to keep harmony on the earth and in our relations with one another. In order to live in peace we must learn to treat other people with respect and caring, to be truthful and honest, reliable and self-disciplined. We take responsibility for our actions, forgive ourselves (and others) for our mistakes, and seek to develop our selves (both morally and spiritually) as we learn.

“To master ourselves is to arrive home- at the Center of Being- the Universal Mandala. What we seek we already are.” ~Lama Surya Das

THE CONTINUOUS NATURE OF CREATIVITY~ The Universe is a creative event, always changing and in progress. Chaos comes out of order, and order out of chaos. Nothing every stays the same because everything keeps growing and developing further. Violence and death are a part of this endless creative dance, the Unbroken Chain of Being. This is the way God or Spirit expresses itself in our Universe. The world was not created in seven days, it is continuously being recreated every day, and as children of God we have the opportunity to celebrate and participate in that creative process.

“An epiphany enables you to sense creation not as something completed, but as constantly becoming, evolving, ascending. This transports you from a place where there is nothing new to a place where there is nothing old, where everything renews itself, where heaven and earth rejoice as at the moment of creation.”   ~Abraham Isaac Kook (Jewish Mystic)

THE PRESENT MOMENT IS SACRED AND ETERNAL~ While most of our human experiences are focused on limited tasks, the past or the future, on problems or expectations, the present moment is where Spirit dances and touches our lives. This is why the Sabbath is considered holy, and so much emphasis is placed in most traditions on seeking God in our present lives and surroundings. The past and future do not exist, actually. We live only in the present moment, the Universal “Now.” Time is in some sense an illusion, the way we perceive the ever-changing physical expressions of Eternity, the movement, evolution and unfoldment of the Sacred in our world.

“As a child, I understood how to give. I have forgotten that grace since I became civilized. I lived the natural life, whereas I now live the artificial. Any pretty pebble was valuable to me then, every growing tree an object of reverence.”  ~Ohiyesa (American Indian)

THE PREVALENCE OF BEAUTY~ Although violence and chaos exists, our Universe is fundamentally an extremely well organized and harmonious place, especially when creative forces are in balance with one another. Human recognition of this dynamic and continuously changing harmony is experienced as a recognition of beauty. When one looks at the world from the perspective of the Divine Soul one is overwhelmed by the intense beauty of everyone and all things. Our greatest musicians, artists and poets have captured something of this dynamic harmony that surrounds us at all moments, the spiritual and mystical beauty present in cloud patterns, in children’s smiling faces, flowers, animals, friends and what we commonly call “reality.”

“The beauty which the knower knows and the lover appreciates, the mystic worships. His God is Reality. To every question that arises in the heart of the mystic, he finds the answer in the life before him.”     ~Hazarat Inayat Khan (Sufi mystic)

SPIRITUAL REALIZATION AND WORLD PEACE ARE IMMINENT~ If the great masters and teachers of humanity are right, that life is a spiritual journey being undertaken by spiritual beings, then peace and harmony on our planet is our unavoidable destiny. We can fight and fear all we like, but sooner or later humans are all going to wake up to remember who we really are at our core, all of us. Our destination is unavoidable because of who we really are. Eventually, a world of peace will be created by each of us, one at a time, in a wave of love and caring that will encircle the entire planet. It happens in our lives as soon as we release ourselves from anger and fear, and cultivate love in our world. It is in fact, already happening.

“True love is boundless like the ocean and, swelling within one, spreads itself out and, crossing all boundaries and frontiers, envelops the whole world.”    ~Mahatma Gandhi

“The day will come when, after harnessing space, the winds, the tides and gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, we shall have discovered fire.”     ~Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

“Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only oneI hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will be as One.”    ~John Lennon

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything is.”  ~Albert Einstein

“Every blade of grass has its angel that bends over it and whispers, ‘Grow, grow.’ ”     ~The Talmud

“See simplicity in the complicated, seek greatness in small things. In the Universe, the difficult things are done ss if they were easy.”    ~Lao Tsu

“To love another person is to see the face of God.” ~Victor Hugo

A Definitive Guide to Jungian Shadow Work: How to Get to Know and Integrate Your Dark Side

by Scott Jeffrey

OVERVIEW: This guide explores the nature of the shadow and provides tips and exercises for daily shadow work.
______________
It’s always standing right behind us, just out of view. In any direct light, we cast a shadow.
The shadow is a psychological term for everything we can’t see in ourselves.
I understood how important knowing my shadow was when I wrote a biography of a spiritual teacher.
Most of us go to great lengths to protect our self-image from anything unflattering or unfamiliar. And so it’s easier to observe another’s shadow before acknowledging one’s own shadow.
Seeing the shadow of this teacher helped me understand how someone can show gifts in one area of life while remaining unaware of poor behavior in other areas.
Every human being is susceptible to this. I find working with my shadow a rewarding, yet challenging process.
Exploring your shadow can lead to greater authenticity, creativity, energy, and personal awakening. This introspective process is essential for reaching mature adulthood (which is rarer than most think).
Let’s inspect what the shadow is and how it comes into being …

Life Is An Illusion

By MADISYN TAYLOR

Having the wisdom to know that life is but a dream does not mean that we ignore living.

As children, most of us sang that mesmerizing, wistful lullaby that ends with the words, "Life is but a dream." This is a classic example of a deep, sophisticated truth hiding, like an underground stream, in an unlikely place. It winds its way through our minds like a riddle or a Zen koan, coming up when we least expect it and asking that we consider its meaning. Many gurus and philosophers agree with this mysterious observation, saying that this world we perceive as real is actually an illusion, not unlike a film being projected on a screen. Most of us are so involved in the projection that we don't understand it for what it is. We are completely caught up in the illusion, imagining that we are in a life and death struggle and taking it very seriously.

The enlightened few, on the other hand, live their lives in the light of the awareness that what most of us perceive as reality is a passing fancy. As a result, they behave with detachment, compassion, and wisdom, while the rest of us struggle and writhe upon the stage in the play of our life. Having the wisdom to know that life is but a dream does not mean that we ignore it or don't do our best with the twists and turns of our fate. Rather, like an actress who plays her role fully even as she knows it's only a role, we engage in the unfolding drama, but with a little more freedom because we know that this is not the totality of who we are.

And life is more of an improvisation than it is like a play whose lines have already been written, whose end is already known. Like an improviser, we have choices to make and the more we embrace the illusionary quality of the performance, the lighter we can be on the planet, on others, and on ourselves. We can truly play with the shadows cast by the light of the projector, fully engaging without getting bogged down.

Soul Powers

We are all on a so-called Spiritual path. The Spiritual path is the path out of matter towards Spirit. This path out of matter towards Spirit we commonly call EVOLUTION. Therefore, by definition, to evolve means to become less matter and more Spirit.

So, we are all progressing on the ladder of evolution, we are all moving towards Spirit, and in order for us to climb the next rung on the evolutionary ladder ahead of us, so to speak, we are called to do something very beautiful as we advance into the 21st century: we are called to externalize and manifest the Soul.

In other words: Our current evolutionary goal as a human family is to advance into a Soul-conscious species. Our current evolutionary goal is to step out of the fourth kingdom, the human kingdom, and advance into the fifth kingdom, the Soul-aware kingdom.

We are birthing a new kingdom

Each kingdom goes through an evolutionary process - and, in essence, the evolutionary goal of each kingdom is to enter the kingdom above it.

As such, the current evolutionary goal of the human family is to step out of the human kingdom, the fourth kingdom, and advance into the fifth kingdom. Makes sense, right?

Now, what is the fifth kingdom in nature? Most of humanity have never heard about it? How come?

Great question!

Most people have never heard about it because it has not yet manifested on Earth.

Nevertheless, we, as a human family, even though we may not realize it yet, we are currently in the process of externalizing and birthing this new higher kingdom on Earth. And this new higher kingdom shall be the fifth kingdom in nature.

The fifth kingdom is a higher species (or evolution) of man: man + Soul  = the Soul-conscious man!

And we externalize this new higher kingdom by each one of us manifesting the Soul on Earth.

So, the task ahead of us is to fully externalize and manifest - make visible - the Soul on Earth. And we externalize our Soul - we make our Soul visible - among other things,  by exhibiting the QUALITIES OF THE SOUL in our three personality vehicles: mental body, emotional body, physical body.

We literally cannot manifest the Soul without exhibiting the qualities of the Soul in our thinking, feeling and acting life. And why?

Because matter, by definition, is the vehicle for the manifestation of the Soul. In other words, the reason why we have bodies even though we are not our bodies is because without a body (=matter aspect) the Soul (=consciousness aspect) cannot manifest itself.

fade-leftfade-rightVirtues are EVOLUTIONARY energies

So, the name of the game is to MANIFEST the Soul in our three personality vehicles: mental, emotional and physical body - thinking, feeling and acting life. To do that we need to expand our consciousness to include the reality of the Soul AND we need to saturate and penetrate our vehicles with the qualities of the Soul.

Now, these so-called Soul qualities are higher Soul energies that have the power to propel us forward on the arc of evolution. In colloquial language we call these evolutionary energies virtues. Virtues are not just empty names on a piece of paper. A virtue, by definition, is a Soul energy and a SOUL POWER that enables us to manifest our Soul here on Earth, in our daily life. A virtue, by definition, is an EVOLUTIONARY ENERGY. Therefore: Virtues help us to evolve.

But WHY, you may ask, why should you strive to manifest the powers of the Soul? How can they help me in a practical way in my daily life? Here are seven compelling reasons why you should seriously consider to begin working systematically on the unfoldment and development of these Soul powers, or virtues, as they are commonly called.

WHY DEVELOP VIRTUES7 reasons why to systematically develop virtues

1: Enter 5th Kingdom
2: Live as Soul
3: Meet Needs
4: Eradicate Karma
5: Experience Beautiful Transition
6: Give Healing
7: Give Self-Confidence
VIRTUES ARE A REQUIREMENT TO EVOLVE INTO THE FIFTH KINGDOM IN NATURE
The Spiritual path is the path towards Spirit. This is the reason why we call it the Spiritual Path and why, in order for us to reach this goal, we have to spiritualize our consciousness and material nature. The closer to Spirit we advance, the higher and finer the frequency. We cannot enter the higher dimensions with a low vibration. Therefore, we have to sublimate our lower nature and raise our vibration. Virtues, being evolutionary energies, enable us to do that. Without unfolding and developing virtues, we literally cannot take the next step in our evolution and evolve into the fifth kingdom in nature. When we are not evolving (moving towards Spirit), we are naturally involving (moving towards matter).

VIRTUES ENABLE US TO LIVE AS A SOUL
It is our current evolutionary goal to learn to live as a Soul. As we develop the qualities of the Soul, with each virtue we learn to express through our personality vehicles (physical, emotional and mental bodies), the Soul gains more and more control over the personality, and thus eventually we learn to live as a Soul and literally give birth to the Soul. The personality, which is the reflection of the Soul, becomes the Soul in manifestation. And that’s the goal: manifestation of the Soul in our thinking, feeling and acting life – and virtues enable us to realize this goal.

VIRTUES ENABLE US TO MEET THE NEEDS OF DAILY LIFE
Undeveloped virtues are unrealized potentials, and these unrealized potentials will be lacking in us and will make it more difficult for us to meet certain needs and master certain situations in the course of our lives. However, once we systematically develop virtues, they are no longer just potentials, they turn into powers that we can actively use. So, it is not just a noble thing to develop virtues; developing virtues enables us – in a very practical way – to meet the needs of our daily life; virtues enables us to master life.

VIRTUES ERADICATE OUR SO-CALLED “BAD KARMA”
All of life is governed by laws. One such law is the law of karma. Karma is the law of cause and effect. Whatever we sow, we shall reap. Whatever we radiate, we attract. As such, the law of karma is a learning device. It confronts us with our own radiation and thereby helps us to correct separative tendencies etc. which otherwise we may be blind to. Now, when we deliberately and systematically transmute the involutionary forces in our aura – and that‘s really what so-called bad karma is: an involutionary force in our aura – by changing the involutionary force into an evolutionary energy, we resolve the issue before we meet it. We transmute our karma before we meet it. In other words: when we decide to develop virtues, we literally spare ourselves many accidents, health lessons and problems because virtues eradicate involutionary forces in our nature which – sooner or later – would otherwise magnetically attract situations into our life which are not fun and joyful.

VIRTUES GUARANTEE A BEAUTIFUL DEATH EXPERIENCE
Virtues, being Soul energies, put us in touch with the higher dimensions. As we deliberately strive to get in touch with these higher subtler dimensions while in incarnation, it will naturally be very easy for us to access these higher dimensions when it is time for us to go. Why? Because we are already rightly attuned. When our aura is full of evolutionary energies (virtues), then these evolutionary energies will magnetically pull us up into the higher dimensions. So by the law of attraction, vices (being involutionary forces) magnetically pull us down into the lower planes whereas virtues (being evolutionary energies) magnetically lift us up and out of the lower planes into the finer dimensions of reality. In other words: Dying will become easy because we are already aspiring upwards on the evolutionary ladder while in incarnation and will naturally continue to do so when we let go of the limitations of the dense body.

VIRTUES, HAVING HEALING PROPERTIES, ARE MEDICINE
According to Djwhal Khul, all disease is the result of inhibited Soul life. Virtues are Soul energies. When we set out to systematically develop virtues and actualize them in our thinking, feeling and acting life, we allow the Soul to express itself without inhibition – and when the Soul can manifest itself without inhibition, health is the natural result. Vices inhibit the Soul life, virtues enable it. Therefore, vices make us sick and virtues make us healthy. As the energies of the Soul flow into our personality vehicles, they break up crystallizations and cause wholeness (healing). They pour down from our higher Soul nature into our etheric plane; then they pass via the Chakras (force centers in our etheric vehicle) to the ductless glands and are thereby released into our blood. In this way, virtues create the necessary elements and chemicals in our bloodstream and physical body. So, virtues are not just empty names on a piece of paper. A virtue, by definition, is literally a chemical substance. Virtues literally change the very chemistry in our body.

VIRTUES GIVE US SELF-CONFIDENCE
The more virtues we build into our nature, the more we will be able to meet the needs of daily life and thus master our life. So with each virtue that we build into our character and actualize in our daily life, our self-confidence grows. Virtues give us self-confidence because virtues make us stronger, more capable and more useful.

Why and how to develop higher bodies and higher senses

Our current evolutionary goal is to step out of our humanity and into our Divinity. Now, in order to reach this lofty goal, part of what we have to do is build higher bodies and develop higher senses.

The idea of building higher bodies and developing higher finer senses may sound like wild fantasy on first hearing, however, evolution being a fact in nature, does it not make sense that as we expand our consciousness and reach up into higher frequencies, as per the law of magnetic attraction and resonance, higher matter becomes accessible to us and out of that higher finer matter we then build higher finer bodies serving as suitable mediums of contact on these higher, finer planes?

The physical body enables us to interact in this physical world; the emotional body enables us to interact in the emotional world and the mental body enables us to interact in the mental world. As we advance on the Spiritual path and manage to pierce into higher dimensions of reality, we’ll need higher finer bodies to move around and interact in these higher dimensions.

I know this may sound rather weird and strange (to some) but maybe this analogy here helps in our understanding:

We built carriages, bikes and cars to move around on Earth. However, to move around on water, we had to build boats and ships. Why? Because carriages and cars don’t drive well on water 🙂 As we advanced Spiritually, we began to move around in the air. Boats don’t work well for traveling through the air, so we built planes. Now, we are ready to explore space, but planes are not suitable for space traveling. For that very reason, we are now building space ships.

In the same way: We need different vehicles to move around in the various dimensions. We need a physical body to move around in this physical dimension here, an emotional body for the emotional plane, a mental body for the mental plane, an intuitional body for the intuitional plane, and so forth.

The Spiritual path is the path out of matter towards Spirit. To advance on the Spiritual path, by definition, means to become less matter and more Spirit. This is why, in order to advance on the Spiritual path, we need to keep spiritualizing the bodies we have (in this way sublimating them) and get busy building new, higher bodies made of new higher material.

Evolution into ever higher, finer dimensions is a fact in nature; and higher light body building enables us to commune and communicate in these higher dimensions.

ACTION STEP: Get serious about refining the bodies you have and start building new higher bodies. How?

Step 1: Refine your physical/etheric body by refining your diet and getting lots of sunshine and fresh air. Refine your emotional nature by forcing yourself (by enforcing your will) to perpetually vibrate love, joy, enthusiasm and gratitude no matter how challenging the situation may appear. Refine your mental body by diligently and persistently thinking high, lofty thoughts. Don’t allow any vagrant thoughts or discouraging, negative thoughts to live in your mind. You would not allow a vagrant to enter and dwell in your home, would you? Force them out! These simple exercises, if earnestly applied, will literally sublimate the bodies you have. To sublimate the bodies we have means to build into our bodies higher finer atoms while at the same time shaking out lower gross atoms.

Step 2: We build higher light bodies by expanding our consciousness into unexplored territory. Never allow yourself to stand still. Always be striving for the higher life!! To strive for the higher life means to advance into the higher life. If we never strive for the higher life, we will never get there. So, always be striving! Think the loftiest thoughts you can possibly entertain. Strive to think in abstract terms. Think about the Divine, look for the Divine in every face, in every flower, in every animal. Think about your Soul and identify with the I AM. Strive to become Soul-aware in the here and now.

Enlightenment At Home

by Madisyn Taylor

Spiritual growth can take place anywhere if you are open and ready to learn and receive.

Many spiritual seekers feel called to far-flung places across the globe in the interest of pursuing the path of their enlightenment. This may indeed be the right course of action for certain people, but it is by no means necessary to attaining an enlightened consciousness. Enlightenment can take root anywhere on earth, as long as the seeker is an open and ready vessel for higher consciousness. All we need is a powerful intention, and a willingness to do the work necessary to moving forward on our path.

In terms of spiritual practice, at this moment, there are more tools available to more people than at any other time in history. We have access to so much wisdom through the vehicles of books, magazines, the Internet, television, and film. In addition, the time-honored practice of meditation is free, and sitting quietly everyday, listening to the universe, is a great way to start the journey within. There is further inspiration in the fact that the greatest teachers we have are our own life experiences, and they come to us every day with new lessons and new opportunities to learn. If we look at the people around us, we may realize that we have a spiritual community already intact, and if we don't, we can find one, if not in our own neighborhood, then on-line.

Meanwhile, if we feel called to travel in search of teachers and experiences, then by all means, we should. But if we can't go to India, or Burma, or Indonesia, or if we don't have the desire, this is not an obstacle in terms of our spiritual development. In fact, we may simply be aware that our time and energy is best spent in our own homes, with our meditation practice and all the complications and joys of our own lives. We can confidently stay in one place, knowing that everything that we need to attain enlightenment is always available right where we are.

The power of tithing

by Gloria Excelsias

The idea of tithing is very old.  All the major Scriptures speak of it in one way or another.

Tithing is a Spiritual concept. The original idea behind it was to acknowledge Source as the source of our supply. The idea is to give a certain percentage (Old English teogoþa = tenth) to Source.

Why, you ask? Great question!

When we make giving to Source a firm part of our life, we not only keep Source in the forefront of our mind, but we also open our inner and outer life to the inflow and outflow of Spirit’s love, life and abundance.

We live in a world of energies and forces. Money is energy. When we begin to give a part of our money in support of a higher purpose, we channel this energy upwards in frequency. The giving, in turn, makes room for the inflow of universal substance into our life.

In other words: When we give a part of our energy in service of a higher purpose, we receive higher energy in return. By continually giving in support of a higher purpose, our needs are guaranteed to be taken care of by the continual inflow of higher substance and energy.

As a consequence, we begin to build up faith and confidence in omnipresent supply and begin to realize that all of life is governed by laws, and that the divine law of giving and receiving ranks higher than man-made laws.

In a sense, by beginning to place (a part of) our trust in omnipresent supply, we make the shift away from the „limitations of visible supply“ to the „infinity of the invisible supply” of Source which is the blueprint of all visible supply in the world. We are building a bridge in our consciousness between earthly supply and spiritual supply.

Our current financial system is not working and never will. Why? Because it is based on the limitations of visible supply. In our greed, we even force limitation to raise the price. The global financial crisis will eventually force us to look for a higher source of supply – for the true source of our supply. In other words, life will lovingly force us to learn to manifest our supply right out of universal substance. By engaging in tithing and in this way beginning to place (a part of) our trust in universal substance, we can get started the process of trusting in a higher source of supply right this moment rather than wait for the situation to turn really serious.

Tithing has many benefits:

It brings a sense of order and structure into our consciousness around finances. We remember Source in our finances and make Source our partner in financial matters. When we tithe money, we touch the law of giving and receiving in a very definite and real way. If you want more friends in life, show yourself friendly, however, if you want more money in life, give money. And if all you have to give to get the flow started is one dollar or one euro, that’s certainly a start. Give it away with the all love in your heart and you are sending out a real, tangible vibration that will surely come back to you.

We begin deliberately to start working with and trusting in universal substance. By continually giving, we continually keep the door open for the universe to come in (rather than placing all of our trust in material supply). In other words: We are actively working on our evolution. We take our financial matters and turn them into a project for Spiritual growth.

We have a chance to practice sharing and letting go. This saves us from becoming stingy and tight, etc.

Now, as we get into the spirit of giving, it is important to keep the following thoughts in mind:

It is important to give in the Spirit of abundance, love and gratitude and never for the sake of a reward. When we give with the thought of getting anything in return, we are not giving, we are bargaining. Whatever you give, give it with a free and willing spirit, with no obligations attached.

What matters is the idea back of the giving, not the size of our giving. Our offering may appear small to us, however, it is the Spirit in which the offering is given that determines its value, not the size or the amount.

Be consistent in your giving. When we make an occasional large tithe here or there, we are not establishing a rhythm. The idea of tithing is to establish a rhythm of giving and receiving. When we tithe once or twice a year, chances are that our channel ends up getting clogged with material thoughts of fear, lack and limitation. Regular tithing to Spirit naturally keeps such material thoughts at bay. When we tithe to Spirit, we place our thoughts on Spirit.

Remember, money is energy. When we give money, we give energy. When we give the energy of money it is important to give to people who struggle to move forward in life and who make an effort to help themselves (and not to people who are not interested in moving forward in life). The idea is to support causes that further the evolution, empowerment and higher life of mankind. This is what is meant with giving to Source. To give to Source is to give to those channels, to those people in which the Spirit of evolution strives to emerge and express itself.

Be open to receive. To give is to receive. When we give out a force, it sooner or later comes back to us (like a boomerang). It cannot escape the law. Therefore, a return is guaranteed – however ONLY when the giving is free and comes from the heart. Prepare to receive a response. By being on the lookout for good to come into our life and expecting it, we have no time to doubt and fear. Our positive expectation magnetically attracts the good to come into our life (while our doubts and fears repel it).

Tithing is a scientific way of giving. It is a sure way to create and maintain abundance in life. Why? Because:

We are working with a universal law: „Give and you shall receive.“
Universal, timeless, perfect laws rank higher than man-made, time-space-limited, imperfect laws.

ACTION STEP: Think about the deeper Spiritual idea of tithing and consider making it a part of your life. To help you develop a greater awareness of the „cause-effect/give-receive“ relationship, take notes about your experiences as you start working with the law of giving and receiving.

How to Ask the Universe for What You Want

The law of attraction is one of the most powerful laws of this Universe. It works on the principle that like attracts like.

This means that you attract into your reality experiences, events and people that are aligned with your energy and vibration.

Everyone and every experience that comes into your life is a teacher in some way that is being drawn to you at your current state of consciousness.

If we believe this to be true, then we can also actively change our energy and our vibration in order to attract a different set of experiences or opportunities into our lives.

When we uplift our energy and our level of consciousness, our external environment mirrors the same and our energy starts to attract a new set of experiences.

Because we are co-creators of our destiny, we also have the power to create and manifest events in our lives as well. We can send our requests out into the Universe, almost like we are casting a wish and watching it return to us.

If you are looking to manifest or create an event in your life, whether it is attracting a new lover, money, a new job or simply a peaceful resolution to a situation, here is how to do it-

1.) Develop a Relationship with the Universe

If you are new to the law of attraction and the inner workings of the Universe, it may be beneficial to start developing a relationship so you can see first hand how the Universe operates.

It is all very well for someone to tell you that “like attracts like” but until you start to see it in operation, it can be difficult to understand.

To start developing your relationship with the Universe, you have to first believe in its power and see the miracles it can create. Perhaps start on a small level first such as asking the Universe for a sign.

2.) Set Your Intention

Just because you ask for something, doesn’t mean you are going to receive it exactly as you intended. This is especially true if what you are asking for comes from a place of ego or there is resistance and blocks surrounding what you are asking for.

Before you ask the Universe for what you want, you first have to get clear with your heart and really tune in to what your heart desires.

Once you have set your intention and have become clear on what you want, it makes it a lot easier to attract it into your life.

3.) Visualize

With your intention in your heart, close your eyes and begin to visualize the receiving of your intention. Visualize what it may look like, what it feels like and any other details that are necessary.

Allow yourself to get taken away by the feelings you are experiencing. Really feel all the emotions that come with having your request answered. The more feelings you can conjure up, the more powerful your request will be.

4.) Thank You and Ask

Once you are sitting in that feeling place and your emotions about what you want are bubbling over, it is time to ask the Universe.

Start with “Thank You” as this allows you to ask with the intention that your request is already being received by the Universe.

Example: “Thank you Universe for giving/bringing/opening me to…..”

5.) Release and Open

Once you have asked for your wish, you need to release and surrender all control to the Universe. You cannot micromanage the delivery or in’s and out’s of your wish. The “how” is up to the Universe, so surrender all attachments to your wish and remain open minded about how your wish will be delivered.

In fact, the more open minded you can stay, the easier it will be for you to recognize the Universe’s magic at work.

6.) Trust in Divine Timing

Another law of the Universe that is important to understand here is Divine Timing. Whatever you have asked for will come your way when the perfect timing presents itself.

You have to trust that once you have sent your wish out into the Universe that it will be received back to you in perfect timing.

After casting your wish, keep trusting the process and holding the emotional feeling strong in your heart. After all, what you want is less about the object or the person and more about the feeling that it creates.
